MANILA, Philippines - As people demonstrate love and affection on Valentine's Day, the Manila archdiocese asked the faithful to spend the day showing solidarity for the sick.
Manila archdiocese health care ministry head Fr. Prudencio Solomon said this is in line with the late Pope John Paul II's institution of World Day of the Sick on May 13, 1992.
"In this celebration, we urged to show our love, compassion, and care for the sick, the aged, the disabled, and the dying," Solomon said in a memorandum.
Solomon said they will mark the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes on Feb. 14 with an archdiocesan Mass for the sick to mark the 17th World Day of the Sick.
Manila auxiliary bishop Broderick Pabillo will be the main celebrant in the Mass at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Spirit Parish (Espiritu Santo Parish) at 1912 Rizal Avenue in Santa Cruz, Manila.

I think it just right to give the sick people more attention and love specially on Valentines day.
